Northern Syria. Hala, a young arab woman, flees her hometown of Manbij to escape the IS. After some months, Hala returns with women of the Kurdish movement to her hometown to help build a free society, in which women ́s empowerment plays a significant role. She encounters resistance on all sides: from the traditional, patriarchal society, her family and even her own liberation movement.

10 years after my father´s dead I am setting sail in the pictureless sphere of mourning and loss. With the narration of my family members, who don’t want to be filmed, I explore the collective memory of a traumatic experience though it´s traces in architecture.

Two groups travel illegally from Turkey to Greece to escape the war in Afghanistan and build a new life. The mother is explaining her little son that they are in the computer game GTA vice city. “Game” call the young men their attempts to cross the borders, while the border-soldiers wait to beat them up.

The Crematorium Berlin Baumschulenweg is separated into two parts. On the top level, a bright sacred room in which the funeral ceremonies take place and on the lower level, where the burning is absolved. Robot-like machines with long grasping arms care for the extinction of the dead bodies, so that no human contact with the dead has to happen.

The film tells the story of Nino, a young immigrant from Georgia, who lives with her son Luca in Berlin. After being fired from her job as a waitress, she meets a mysterious Frenchman in a park in Berlin. He listens to her story and seems to be the only person who understands her situation. She progressively becomes a slave to the emotional state of his ideas and comes to the conclusion that the only way to heal her own wounds is to inflict pain upon someone else.
